Cru softball swept Hardin-Simmons University to complete the regular season. It has been a long journey for the seniors who have given so much to this team. During the senior presentation, I got a little teary-eyed because Chandler, Tori and Rebekah will soon be moving on to the next phase of their life. It got me to thinking that I will be doing the same thing next year.
Our whole lives have revolved around softball. It has been great getting to know each one of the seniors on a personal level and wish only God’s best for them.
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11
I can not look too far into the future with the conference tournament just around the corner. I am excited the team has come together and we have peaked at the right time. We have momentum going into our first game.
“When the game is over, I just want to look at myself in the mirror, win or lose, and know I gave it everything I had.” – Joe Montana
The time has come for Cru softball to leave it all on the field. All of our hard work will pay off. We started preparing for this tournament back in the fall. The 6 a.m. strength and conditioning workouts, batting practice, sliding drills (which I strongly dislike) and hours of fielding have only made us stronger.
“The biggest thing is to have a mindset and a belief you can win every tournament going in.” – Tiger Woods
Believing in yourself puts you in a position to win. We have to remember to keep our cool, lift each other up and play like it is our last game. If we focus on the process and let go of the outcome, we can not be defeated.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” – 2 Timothy 4:7
